Here’s How it Happens at Hothouse Studios
I’ll set the scene. It was 9:30pm on Wednesday and I was walking out to my car as I see the brothers Anthony (Devito) and Robert Esparza with the band Last Minute Idea showing up for rehearsal. So I go over to say hi and at this time Chris Segura their guitarist drives up and then joins us.
So we’re standing there talking and in the conversation I ask Devito “what do you have going this weekend” and he says “I’m going to the Warped Tour on Friday to watch my favorite band perform” and I asked “who is that?” he replies “this rock/ska band Streetlight Manifesto.”
At this time all the guys join in with our conversation and start talking about how Streetlight Manifesto is one of their all time favorite bands and we’ve been following them since their beginnings and we can’t wait for Friday to see them perform and we have memorabilia of theirs and so on. At this moment I knew they were in for a big surprise.
I looked at Devito with a smile and the wonderment at how the universe works and say to him “well guess what?” I saw his eyes light up with anticipation as he said “what?” I said “Streetlight Manifesto has locked out the Auditorium these past few days as they prepared for their tour which starts with their performance at the Warped Tour and they are in there right now”!
You can image what happens next. The guys started chattering amongst themselves and freaking out with disbelief and saying thing like “really?” and “no, you’re kidding” but I assured them the band was in there as we spoke.
Next I said to them “Come on down to the studio tomorrow morning around 11:30 cause that’s usually when they guys in Streetlight Manifesto show up for their noon rehearsals and I’ll introduce you to them and you can take some photos”. This really blew their minds and in the morning, Devito, Chris and Emily (another big fan), showed up and were given an intimate meet and greet with the band and took some photos with all the guys. This is how we do it at Hothouse Studios.
On personal note, it made me feel really good that the Hothouse was chosen by the universe to facilitate such a cool life experience for guys that have been using the studio since we opened six years ago. Whoyeah
