Paul McCartney Pokes Fun At Curfew Mishap

Sir Paul McCartney has poked fun at the curfew controversy which ended his encore showdown with Bruce Springsteen in London last weekend by bringing rehearsals for the Olympics to an abrupt end.
The former Beatle has posted a new video on YouTube.com featuring the set up for the rehearsals at a secret location.

Appearing excited that his London Games opening ceremony spectacular is just a week away, McCartney introduces a slice of what he and his band might play – counting in a rendition of I Saw Her Standing There.
The rocker gets through the first verse of the song when the power appears to stop the band in its tracks.

Looking mystified, McCartney yells, “Who pulled the plug?”
The star’s encore performance with Bruce Springsteen at Hyde Park last Saturday ended abruptly when concert organisers pulled the plug after the two stars sailed past the venue’s strict end time.

Springsteen poked fun at the curfew calamity earlier this week when he took to the stage at Dublin’s RDS Arena in Ireland on Tuesday and switched a huge fake generator back to ‘on’, before launching into the final minute of Twist And Shout – the track he failed to finish in London with McCartney.
He then held up a placard with the message “Only the Boss says when to pull the plug”.

Flo Guitar Enthusiasts at Hothouse Rehearsal Studios

A special thanks to Jeff Floro of The.Flo.Guitar.Enthusiasts Joe Mazzeo, of the Grumps, Henry Cendejas, and JimmyRay Hawkins for bringing all the gear and playing on our video. You guys are the best. Joe built a custom switch for us to change speakers at a moment's notice, besides putting all those speakers in all those cabinets. An amazing collection of vintage and new speakers were assembled. Henry brought in some amazing amps and everyone loved his EVM 12L cabinet. It sounded amazing. JimmyRay brought a couple of guitars he assembled which sounded amazing and played some awesome stuff which really showed the differences between the speakers. The edited video will be coming soon, and some surprises.

Here’s an outtake of the video…Joe Mazzeo, of the Grumps, warming up before performing for the video.. He is playing his Jackson through a Ceriatone Chupacabra 50 watt head through his Marshall 4x12 cabinet with Celestion Greenbacks.

Starving for Gravity is a new rock group with a passion for their music, a commitment to their fans and is dedicated to work, until they drop. They won’t let you to go home empty handed...

Music Connection Magazine reviewed Starving for Gravity and called their music “epic and exhilarating”. Their songs are on the aggressive side but still accessible. Fans say their songs look at life with a convoluted honesty. They’ve told me they just write what we feel.

Starving for Gravity has played shows from San Diego to San Francisco, including the eWorldMusic Launch Party, the Cal State Long Beach “Battle of The Bands” (they won); the Temecula Valley Film & Music Festival Showcase, where they won "Best of Fest"; Winner of the LAMM JAM "Rock Music Contest"; Winner of the Worldwide Contest: "Rock Against Diabetes" where they were honored to play with Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, guitarist for Guns 'n Roses and his All Star Band; Winner of "Best Rock Artist of 2008" at the Hollywood Music Awards; and were selected to Play the Main Stages at NAMM in 2009 and 2011.

Messenger Live at the Sunset Room

I had an amazing experience Thursday night. I went to watch Messenger, one of our favorite bands that rehearses’ here, perform at a restaurant/bar called the Sunset Room in Hacienda Heights. I had a blast!

Messenger’s two hour set began with Melinda solo on acoustic guitar performing original material and covering some of her favorite songs. She had the crowding mesmerized.

The band took the stage and the sounds of Messenger filled the club. The crowd loved their music and loud applause ended every song. Patrons got up and started dancing and the place was hopping with energy. Messenger put on a dazzling show.

Watch an exclusive video and learn more about Messenger at their artist page at Hothousestudios.com.

The Sunset Room is a throwback to a better time when music venues didn’t make the band pay to play. Here is the amazing part…the Sunset Room pays the band to be the live entertainment for their patrons. That’s right, they pay the band. They know the value of live music

The Sunset Room offers an upscale ambience with a laid back vibe. They have a well rounded menu and every Thursday emerging bands take center stage and the dinner crowd is there enjoying their meal and the live music. I just loved it.

I’ll be mentioning the Sunset Room to all the bands that rehearse here at Hothouse Studios as the venue to play.
